our lessons and instructors
What ages do you provide instruction for?
At the Sun Prairie High School Pools, we provide instruction for children ages 1-18 years of age. Our lessons are designed to teach children with all different skill levels. Our staff is committed to work with you and your child, to find the best fit for your child.
What is your student to instructor ratio?
We strive to provide small, intimate class sizes to help ensure a safe environment for every swimmer. All classes will be made up of a maximum of 5 students and 1 instructor. Goldfish classes will have the child's parent/guardian in the water with them.
How long are lessons?
Our lessons are 45 minutes for children 6 and up and 30 minutes for children 5 and under and run Monday-Friday per session. Every lesson will begin with a brief discussion of a safety topic, followed by instruction within your child's specific group.
Where can I register for swim lessons?
You can register online, here, or stop in to the pool and fill out a form.
East High School Pool is located at 888 Grove Street, Door 20, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
West High School Pool is located at 2850 Ironwood Drive, Door 31, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
Will my child have the same instructor every class period?
We cannot guarantee that your child will have the same instructor for every lesson, but we do our best to ensure your child has consistency among instructors. We understand that younger children build relationships with instructors and we strive to accommodate that.

Scheduling
How do I schedule my child's lessons?
To enroll your child in swim lessons, you can either sign up online by clicking here, or you can stop by the pool and fill out the necessary forms. Our lessons are 30 or 45 minutes everyday, 5 days a week for 1 week. We try to provide a wide range of class times to better fit your schedule.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
Please let either your child's instructor or the swim lesson coordinator know what day(s) your child will be missing. Due to the shortness of each session and the limited space in each class, we will not be holding make up sessions. This will not affect your child's overall progress, as each lesson beings with a review of what was taught the day before.
How do I change my child's schedule session and/or time for lessons?
You are able to change your child's lesson session and/or time by emailing the Swim Lesson Coordinator (Makayla Allan). Due to the fast pace of our lesson schedule, please let us know as far in advance as you can if you need to change your session and/or time of your lesson. If you have previously registered your child and would like to switch to a different session and/or time, this does not guarantee a spot in a different session or time. We will do the best we can to meet your needs.
What happens when my child advances to the next level?
Your child's report card will indicate which level the instructor has recommended your child be placed in for the next session. If you choose to register your child for the next session available, please fill out a registration form for the next session as soon as possible. Do not be alarmed if your child remains in the same level. It simply means that the instructor believes your child needs more time to master certain skills.
